Welcome to Still MCR! We produce articles, interviews, playlists and podcasts covering Manchester Hip Hop, Soul, Drum&Bass and other fresh sounds from the city.
Still MCR began as a blog page in 2012 and has supported and contributed to documenting Manchester Music, in one way or another, for over a decade.
“As much as I love and appreciate music from around the world, there is no denying that there is something really special about Manchester. For me, that’s a combination of fascinating musical history, diverse nightlife and an openness to other sounds and types of expression. I don’t think Manchester is scared to try something new, which makes it a pioneering place in UK Hip Hop and almost every other genre. It’s not worried about being cool, just being real and doing what feels right.” C.J
As well as Still MCR, CJ has played Hip Hop and Soul in venues across the city as CEEJ. She’s also contributed to several other Manchester community and music platforms. More recently, CJ has volunteered with Unity Radio to assist in researching for the Manchester Hip Hop Archive, a community-led project celebrating 50 years of the culture.
